MATKaSPORT EXTAR 48h - Rules
Purpose of the competition
To spend a long weekend outdoors together with your friends. To test your mental and physical capabilities by doing sports for 48 h.

48 h race.
Three-member teams are competing in two classes – men (HH) and mixed (DH) teams.There has to be at least one woman in the mixed team. All competitors must be at least 18 years of age.
Everybody, who are fit enough to complete the course, can participate and competitor is racing at own responsibility! The organizers take no liability for traumas or injuries occurring during the race.
The race course and rules
The main part of the race consists of four means of moving: running, inline skating (roller-skiing), biking and by water vehicle (canoeing).
Special tasks include: rope work or some other tasks requiring wit and creative abilities. If the team does not complete a special task, the time penalty is given. The penalty must be served by the whole team during the race at a certain point assigned by the referees.
Winner is the team with the biggest number of checkpoints (CP) taken. In a case of an equal sum of CPs for several teams, the winner is the team with the shortest total race time. Race course includes mandatory and voluntary CPs. In order to get the final result the team must take all mandatory CPs within given time limits. CPs taken outside the time limit will not count. Teams must mark the CP in Exchange Areas! Unmarked Exchange Area CP will cancel all the CPs marked at the previous stage. If the team exceeds the time limit of any stage, the penalty is given by deducting CPs: delay up to 4.59 min means –1 CP, etc.
One team must move together (all team members within a visual range), unless instructed otherwise by the referees.
It is forbidden to use any external help or to replace team members during the race. Teams can only use map information provided by the race organizers.

NB! The obligation to mark mandatory CP 33 and at least one additional CP, also the mandatory Exchange Area CP 200!
EXCHANGE AREA 2 is opened at 13:30
EXCHANGE AREA 1 is closed at 14:00, meaning – teams can start the next stage only between 13:30-14:00. If the Exchange Area CP is marked later than 14:00, a penalty will be given!
Teams are allowed to enter the Exchange Area earlier and prepare for the next stage. This option gives an oportunity to use different tactics for different stages.
IT IS MANDATORY TO MARK ALL EXCHANGE AREA CPs!
CP marking system
The SPORTident system will be used and only large memory SI-6 and SI-10 cards are suitable.
All team members must have individual SI-Cards, which are solidly attached to the wrist.
In case a member does not have own SI-Card, a wish to rent on must be noted at registration.
Entry fees (per person):

SI-Card rent is 3 € per team member. In case the SI-card is required, it should be marked on the registration form and the SI-card rental fee must be transferred together with the entry fee.
The entry fee must be transfered to NGO Seiklusspordiklubi X-Team bank account in SWEDBANK (SWIFT/BIC:HABAEE2X) IBAN: EE702200221045605087. Please note the name of the team or names of the team members on transfer.
The team will be marked as registered, when the payment is received on NGO Seiklusspordiklubi X-TEAM bank account. Teams, whose payment is not received at the end of registration date, will be deleted from the startlist and must pay the new entry fee in the case of a re-registration!
Teams or competitors not racing will not be refunded! If the fee has not been payed by 12.07.2017, teams will not be allowed to start, except teams from abroad who have an agreement with the organizers for the entry fee to be paid at the race centre on the day of the competition, 20th of July.2017.
List of mandatory and recommended equipment will be released approximately three weeks before the race. Teams must carry the mandatory equipment during the whole race and referees have the right to check it. In case of something missing, a time penalty is given. Wearing a helmet during cycling, roller-skating and rope work is mandatory.
The organizers will provide canoes with oars, also equipment that is necessary to complete special tasks (other than already mandatory). Clothing and food supply must be sufficient to enable the team to complete the race without any external help and also in the case of unpredictable events. Every team is responsible for the working order of its own equipment.
All competitors must follow the traffic regulations and wear a helmet during cycling and roller-skating. All bicycles must have lights switched on during the night – a white headlight (or a headlamp) and a red rear light. It is allowed to make fire only at specific marked areas. No littering is allowed, there will be trash bags in Exchange Areas.
By registering to the race, the competitor accepts the hold-harmless agreement.
Competitors are recommended to have a personal accident insurance.
Teams that quit the race must inform the organizers about it at the first opportunity. Quit team must reach the Race Centre by its own means. In case of an inevitable circumstances (for example, if any of the team members is injured or unable to move), a rescue and transportation will be arranged by the race organizers.
